My Pommes de Terre Golden

Tonight's dinner was the leftovers of the week and some delicious baked potatoes (or in a fancy way "Pommes de terre Golden") ! Not difficult to cook, maybe except the cutting the potatoe in slices part ! Got the recipe from this great site : http://foodgawker.com

Here Goes :

Recipe :

6 Medium Size Potatoes
2 - 3 Cloves Garlic, thinly sliced
2 Tbsp Olive Oil
30 g Butter
Maldon Sea Salt
Freshly Ground Black Pepper

Preheat the oven to 220˚C (425˚F). Put the potato on a chopping board, flat side down. Start from one end of the potato, cut almost all the way through, at about 3 to 4 mm intervals.

Arrange the potatoes in a baking tray and insert the garlic in between the slits. Scatter some butter on top of each potato. Then drizzle the olive oil and sprinkle some sea salt and freshly ground black pepper.

Bake the potatoes for about 40 minutes or until the potatoes turn crispy and the flesh is soft.

Slight Change in my version : I mashed the gralic with the butter (Like when I do Garlic Bread) !

The Result :

And they were absOlutely delicious  ...

Nightty night !

Crumble Porc ChOps and Dry Carrot Rice

As promised, I brinG U the dinner at the Mendes' house tonight. The carrot rice is mine, the crumble porc chops tOo : )

First the rice :

Dry Carrot rice :

1 or two cups of thai rice
1 minced onion
2 minced garlics
1 chicken stock cube
4 olive oil tablespoons
1 or 2 grated carrots ( I always do 3 or 4 for the salad or somme carrot cake I'm going to make later )
Water
Salt

The 3 secrets to my dry tasty rice (and that wont break ur teeth, that's nice tOo :s) in this order, is to let the rice  really soaking in the  olive oil, water 1 cm above the rice and cuver it with a dish wraped in a transparent plastic bag on the minimum temperature possible. When U see the holes like in the last picture its gOoD, just mix it and turn of the heat (but don't remove it).

Crumble Porc Chops :

4 thin-sliced, boneless center cut pork chops
2 cups buttermilk*
2 cups bread crumbs
1/3 cup flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon pepper
1/2 cup grated parmesan cheese + a little more for garnish
3 tablespoons olive oil
3/4 cup chicken stock

Tenderize and trim fat from pork chops if you’d like.Add pork chops to a baking dish and pour buttermilk over top. Soak for at least 2 hours, or over night. Remove pork chops from fridge 30 minutes before you plan to make them.In a bowl, combine bread crumbs, flour, salt, pepper and parmesan. Heat an over-safe skillet on medium-high heat and add olive oil. Grab a pork chop from the buttermilk,* letting any excess milk run off. Dredge through panko mixture, coating completely. Lay down in skillet and repeat with remaining chops. Brown pork chops for 3 minutes on each side only! After six minutes, turn off heat and add chicken stock to pan. Sprinkle a little parmesan on pork chops and cover skillet. Bake for 20 minutes. When U take out of the skillet you'lle under stand why I call It Crumble Poc ChOps :)

Since I don't know where to buy the buttermilk in Paris, I searched for a substitute. Lucky for me it's so simple to make ... It's a pinner ( Buttermilk Substitute ) ! That's the "It's a keeper" expression substitute ;)

And there U gO :

Serve it with a nice carrot salad (S&P and a drop of olive oil)

Children had seconds and I had dinner wich is rare these days !

Bisouxx !

ChOres BOard

TOday I had the time to go to the store and get the blackboard wallpaper I wanted. This was just a try out. I intend to change the frame on the board as soon as I'm little less poor ;)
It was simple to make and I hOpe it's gonna be useful in the future ! The plan his to make a chore board and the next one is going to be a menu board, but I have a special idea for that one !

I bought a roll of 0,5mm X 45cm for 10,90 €, used some old gift wrapper from Christmas 2011, scotch, double-sided scoth and patiente...

Here's the stOry in images :

Now I don't have to remind them what's their chore of the week !

Bisouxx !!

PS : Special dinner tonight ;) See U Later !!

TOo lazy tO cOok tOnight

Today I was tOo lazy to cOok so dinner was Pumpkin soup and my special Garlic Bread with cheese and bacon. I know there are tons of recipes but I arranged this one my way :)
Really easy and quick to do, you can keep what's left in the freezer for a couple of days and use it when the munchies come !!

Recipe :

Aluminum foil
1 frozen mini bread ( per person or some big Ones if ur serving it as an Entrée )
Butter (not salty)
Chopped Scallions (again frozen)
Minced Fresh Garlics (2 or 3 depending on the quantity of butter you use)
S&P
Cheese (Emmental or Mozzarela)
Bacon

Mix the butter, the scallions, the garlic with S&P (easy on the salt, don't forget the bacon's salty tOo) in a bowl.
After baking the mini breads, cut them but not all the way trough (He has to stay together).  Use a knife with a saw blade, that way the bread wont break. Them smear generously with the butter mix between the slices of bread.
Put the cheese first and then the bacon. I wrap the bread in the aluminum foil  before inserting the cheese and bacon, it helps not breaking the bread while inserting. Pre-heat your oven to 350°F/180°C and bake them in the middle rack for about 15m .
What U don't use U can save for latter ... I always note the date  on top  of the bowl (keep 4 to 5 days max in the freezer)
And ... TAAAAADAAAAAA !!

So gOod  ...

The begginning of the finale circle !!

Another great One :) Last Episode :'(

I don't know if I'm ready for all that...
I wish there was just someway to take the edge off.
Edge, you are officially off.

That 70's show !!

This one of my favourite shows :) Here's an example !! I LMAO all alone ! Simply Culte ! EnjOy !

SeasOn 02 Episode 9 - Eric gets suspended

This was my first quote montage so it's not perfect but it's soooo funnyyyy !

Lunch Time !!!

My lunch tOday was great ... You may think that food here is delicious, gourmet, whattever ... To me the best are the Americans, the Italiens and the Portuguese, of course and I'm not just saying that because I am one !! But I'm in a red, blue and white stars periode, not stripes !!

So I had pork chops but no idea (seems I do the same ol'things all the time) ... Quick search on Pinterest and baaaammmmmmm !!!!! Love at first sight  <3 Favorite Pork Chops and at first taste ... Even when it was cooking it smelled so good ... Since I'm on vacations, I cooked one and the others I kept in the mix inside the freezer. Can't wait for dinner time ! As usual it's not as pretty as the original (Sorry) !

Served with Fetuccine (egg pasta) and Baby Tomatos ( I prefer this kind, they're so sweet, Leah eats them like candy )

And the recipe :

1 boneless pork loin chop per person
1 cup flour
1 tsp parsley flakes
1/2 tsp garlic powder
1/4 tsp pepper
1/8 tsp salt
Real salted butter
1/4 cup water

Preheat oven to 350°F/180°C. In a shallow dish combine flour, parsley flakes, garlic powder (didn't so I used fresh garlic, equally good I guess), pepper, and salt. Dredge each pork chop in flour mixture and place in 9x13 baking dish. Place water into dish (this will help give a little moisture while baking). Place 1/2 TBSP of butter on each chop. Cook for 35-40 minutes or until no longer pink in the middle.

And now it's time for a little nap, almost dinner time  yeyyyyy !

When inspiration comes ...

I'm so electric tOday, I guess it's those first enthusiastic blog days ... Better take advantage of it :)

Let's go on with FOod ! For Yara's 8th birthday I wanted to do something special, since her friends from school were coming and it was our last year in Portugal. Had to return tO work, fun times are over :(

Among the few great little things I did there was a marshmallow's, gummybear's, candy egg's, gummy everything's cake ! So easy to make and soooo pretty :) Could have been better looking (I think that a bit more gummys to cover up the silver correctly would't hurt) but money was short, I did the best I could.

Just buy lots of candies and marshmallows, find (ask in big appliances magazines, they're always throwing them away) or buy some styrofoam 3 or 4 cm (don't know in inchs), cut 3 different sizes in the shape u want to(a tower of rounds is nice too), cover up in aluminium paper and then assemble it with some toothpicks ! Next cut a bunch of toothpicks in half and start pinning them to the styrofoam (The pointy part in the foam, made my fingers hurt for days) ! and vOilà !
So Cute the shot glasses filled with chocolat mousse and 4 M&Ms on top (Peanuts ou chocolat - ur chOice !). I was going to put a chantilly lay over the chocolat mousse but nO time!

The fruit sticks on the cabbage were nice tOo but since this wasn't a mega party with dozens of kids I  couldn't do much more. Hate wasting ! ChOose fruits that don't get dark like apple . I had grappes, kiwi, peach and MangO !!

She was so happy !!! I cried so hard those last days (not for me, I wanted to leave) ... They had to leave their friends, their 1st grade friends ... But at least they gOt tO spend one final happy day together !

Girl POweR

XoxO ( Damn I really need a catchy goodbye phrase! )

RainY Days...

Oh GOd I want to sleep !!! Woke up at 8 AM (twO hours after I fell asleep) tO an ugly, ugly day :
PARIS View from my hOuse (7th floor) - 10 septembre 2012
And sO I decided to dO nOthing !!! Don't even gonna gO outside ! This weather really makes wanna stay home watch a series (That 70's Show - it's the serie of the moment, last one was Mike and Molly, which I did not see all the way to the end), play Hidden Chronicles and just chillllll !!!

Started preparing breakfast humm Nothing like a home-made Bacon EggMuffin with a Russian Earl Grey Tea to start the day in a good way !

My POoH Cup - Everything tastes better in it ...
Since I'm nOt the proud owner of a microwave (Come quick Santa !) I had to improvise and fried the egg in a pan !!

Here's the recipe (for 1 person) :

 - 1 egg
 - 1 english muffin
 - 1 emmental cheese slice
 - 1 slice of bacon [Or twO if U can't fight the need ;)]

Cut Ur muffin in twO and on to the oven at 350°F/180°C for about 10 to 15m.

While the muffins are toasting, frie your egg normally in a pan with some sesame oil and place the slice of bacon over the egg (Love the little crust).

After, just take the egg with the bacon on to the half muffin, the cheese slice and close your work of art putting the other half on top ... Now all U have to dO is get faT !

XoXo

Italien ChicKen ... Yummm... delicious and practical ...

FOod ... one of the best things in the world ... I like to cook but I don't have much time ... Working as a Humaine Ressources Departement assistent to 3 bosses is exausting. Add 3 girls with 11, 9 and 2 years old and U get the result = Always looking 4 ways to make life easier and always trying to remember I'm a woman tOo (a woman who cooks, cleans, decorates, crafts, etc, etc) . WaouH !! Writing this down makes me realize that I'm pretty good  a slave to my hOuse ;)
Okay ! Now to the serious part ! Dinner :D I love dinner but its always a nag to choose what to do ! There are great tips when it comes to organizing ! Like this board menu :
organized menu for the week ;)So easy to do just using some black board paper glued to one of the sides of a kitchen cabinet and the little circles U cant just write down on a disk card with a pretty caligraphie or print them, gO crazy !!
And here I go off chart again ... :( You'll come to realize I do it often ... That's the result of many years of "eating sandwichs" (ThOse who watch "How I met your mother" will understand lol) !
While waiting 4 my menu black board I cook anyway ... It's not like I can say : "Oh nO ! I don't have a black board ! I can't cook !"
So...  while zapping throughout Pinterest I found a recipe ... Italien chiken ! I changed it a bit [not a fan of artichoke hearts SorrY Jill ;)]
Also I didn't have mozzarela so I used Emmental cheese :( Have to find an italien store nearby !

Recipe :

Core and chop about 4-5 roma tomatoes.
Thinly slice 2 cloves of garlic.
Place all ingredients in a bowl and pour in a few tablespoons of extra virgin olive oil, a generous amount of S&P, a teaspoon of sugar, a couple tablespoons of flour.
Place the tomato mixture in with chicken breasts [seasoned with S&P].
Place in a 350° F(180° C if ur following from Europe) oven and bake 40m.
Sprinkle mozzarella cheese (Emmental in my case) over the top.
Place the chicken under the broiler for a 10m.
Pull the chicken out of the oven, sprinkle fresh basil on top. I didn't 'cause I forgot but I'll do it next time ;)
I served it with normal spaghetti (but the green one is still on my mind for Christmas) !

Here's the picture :

Sorry about the presentation but I wanna get better ...

Well... hope you will try this, it's worth the while and super easy to do ...
It's 4 AM in Paris and the Sandman doesn't wanna comme... I'm gonna grab a bite to eat and who knows what happens ? See U later or maybe in a little while !

And here's my "I don't know anymore since I created so many" blOg ...

I really hope this One will be the One... One of the reasons for creating this blog is I wanna share with the wOrld things that make my day a little brigther ! EnGlish is nOt my native language so I apOlogize in advance  4 any mistakes U encounter and I invite you to correct me ... Why english ? Come on man ! It's the number one spoken writen singged language in the world !!
I alsO have the annOying habit of putting capital letters wherE they dOn't belOng but it'S soooo pretty :)
But I'll try to control it ! PrOmise ! Upps !
I just love pretty things ... Food, Déco, DIY, Pictures, Organizing ... I can stay hours on Pinterest ... I cook, I clean, I follow tips and honestlly (promise u wont laugh ! ) it changed my life.
But I'm not perfect, far from that ... I'm a bit lazy, I'm a shoppahoolic, impacient, and so many more I can't tell because I would like people to come back hahaha

My Minnie Mouse phase ....

So welcome tO my little wOrld ...
